RST-029: 5 DAYS LAKE MANYARA / NGORONGORO / TARANGIRE.
Day 1. Lake Manyara National Park.
Depart Arusha in the morning for Lake Manyara arriving in
time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive.
Contrasting with the intimacy of the forest, is the grass
floodplain and its expansive views eastward across the
alkaline lake, to the jagged blue volcanic peaks that rise
from the endless Maasai steppes large buffalo, wildebeest
and zebra congregate on these grassy plains, as do giraffes.
Some so dark in coloration that they appear to be from a
distance. Dinner and overnight at a lodge.
Day 2. Ngorongoro.
After morning game drive in Lake Manyara, proceed to one of
the natural wonders of the world, the Ngorongoro Crater to
arrive in time for lunch. After lunch relax in the lodge
enjoying the magnificent view of the crater from the lodge
located in the rim of the crater. The Crater is one of the
world's greatest natural spectacles; its magical setting and
abundant wildlife never fail to enthral visitors. It borders
the Serengeti National Park to the north and west. Dinner
and overnight at a lodge.
Day 3. Ngorongoro Crater.
After early breakfast a 4wheel drive vehicle will take you
2000ft down the crater, tracking animals with picnic lunch.
Also referred to as “the eighth wonder of the world” and
stretching across some 8,300 sq km, the Ngorongoro
Conservation Area in northern Tanzania boasts a blend of
landscapes, wildlife, people and archaeology that is
unsurpassed in Africa. The volcanoes, grasslands, waterfalls
and mountain forests are home to an abundance of animals and
to the Maasai. In the evening ascend to the lodge for dinner
and overnight.
Day 4. Tarangire National Park.
After breakfast drive to Tarangire to arrive in time for
lunch. Afternoon game viewing and drives to explore this
famous park. The fierce sun sucks the moisture from the
landscape, baking the earth into a dusty red, the withered
grass as brittle as straw. The Tarangire River has shriveled
to a shadow of its wet season self but it is choked with
wildlife. Tarangire’s pythons climb trees, as do its lions
and leopards, lounging in the branches where the fruit of
the sausage tree disguises the twitch of a tail. Meals and
overnight at lodge.
Day 5. Tarangire-Arusha.
After breakfast proceed for a morning game viewing drive,
return to lodge for lunch, Afternoon drive to Arusha.
